Chalk Talk: A Kindergarten Blog

Just found this blog, it's written by a real teacher. I'd like to hear feedback from K and pre-K teachers. Looks like there are some links in the blog.

  1. This is a great, informative blog! The links in the math posting include a free site and a pay-per-lesson site, both of which looked really helpful. I like that she provides both links for lessons from others as well as activities from her own class. She seems to be a technology resource for her school-posting things for kindergarten as well as first grade (and maybe others I didn't get to.) The Kindergarten-Lessons.com link was especially enjoyable. She also has a lot of links to other blogs (though some are more helpful than others) on the right, some of which she has credited for ideas/lessons throughout her postings. A great site for early childhood teachers!

  2. What a great, practical and useful site for kindergarten teachers! I love the way these teachers have found opportunities to extend the content standards, with lessons that take students that extra step beyond 'the basics'. I have taught these units before, but I am really excited to try some of the teachers' ideas. With Earth Day upon us, the ideas for animals and their habitats and survival is very timely. I also plan to introduce our transportation unit very soon, so the information is very appropriate. And, we are trying to encourage students to write more interesting and cohesive sentences, so the letter writing ideas are just up our alley. Thanks so much for a wonderful site and very useable info!

  3. I think it's a great site that any teacher with a lot of expereience or not so much, would find beneficial. It's always so interesting to see how other teachers might approach the same concept in a way that is very different to the one you have perhaps used several times. Two heads are always better than one and these heads are all sharing ideas. Great find!

  4. I really liked this blog. I wouldn't buy any thing from the TPT site linked to many or these activities, but the ideas are great and can be adapted in many ways. I like that most of her theme ideas include many different approaches to teaching the concepts and the photos for teacher to visualize the finished products. It also helps teachers recreate the lessons and the materials in a way that meets their students' learning needs.

  5. Ok,
So since I teach K-8 Spanish, I figured that I should also look at this site and I actually found it quite helpful. At times, in the classes, I cover the units that the Kindergarten teachers are teaching (such as animals and habitats, seasons, shapes, etc). In any case, I liked the blogs of the teachers and went on to the TPT (Teachers Pay Teachers site). In that site, you can browse by subject, grade levels, etc. I found some really nice resources that are VERY cheap (some even free). It was like Christmas! I'll definitely be visiting that site again.
