  1. I really like this website. Teachers can share their frustrations and successes and other teachers in the same position as you can give you advise or even share their experiences. It's a good place to interact with other collegues.

  2. This website has so much to offer teachers. I appreciate that it posts several questions which teachers can vote on, to see which one the site will address - that makes it more responsive to teacher needs. I also like how a search for resources, lesson plans, etc. can be fine-tuned to subject area, grade level and so on. Having a "place" for teachers to share ideas and suggestions and make requests makes this website more of a "full-service", or "one-stop" shopping site. Thanks for the link!

  3. This website has some awesome classroom management ideas! This one (http://community.weareteachers.com/t5/Classroom-Management-Tips/quot-ZAP-quot-Program/idi-p/1147) talks about something called ZAP, or "Zeros Aren't Permitted". It's similar to something I do with my students except that I only do it with MY classes, it's not a school or grade-wide thing, and it happens on a daily basis instead of just on Friday.

For me, the students who haven't completed their homework have to come see me during their lunch/socialization period to complete it. It's not a detention (they leave when they're done) and it allows them to ask me questions about the assignment if they don't understand it (a big reason why it's normally not done in the first place).

Just like ZAP was described, students seem to respond pretty well. Those who are struggling to independently complete assignments get the help they need and those who just didn't feel like doing the homework are held accountable and not allowed to just ignore what they don't want to do. :-)

  4. I found this website to be extremely helpful with new ideas for lesson plans! I found a lesson called obesity ball, that teaches students about fat cells, healthy and unhelathy foods, and incorporates exercise into the lesson... I shared this with the other health and pe teachers at my school as well!
