Possible Writing Prompt?

I love this video... toddler twins talking to each other in a language all their own.  What abou a writing assignment to "translate" the conversation these two are having.  Could be a motivating way to teach proper use of quotations and conversations.

  1. I saw this video on Yahoo News a few weeks ago and loved it. Twin talk is very interesting. Their "turn taking," inflection, and gestures speak volumes about what they already understand about the function of language. I like the teaching idea. Maybe students could recreate it with sub-titles translating the conversation.

  2. That's a great idea! They could even do it in another language... Spanish, perhaps ;-)? I think they're talking about the missing sock. It must be the one that the dryer ate and won't cough back up!

PS - Funny thing for me: my puppy was even sitting and watching this, listening very intently. Maybe he gets what's going on, too! :-p

  3. I don'y usually comment on my own blog entry but this is too interesting/spooky. I found this World Language web site when I was browsing and low and behold look who shows up...

  4. I definitely heard about this a few weeks ago too. Ahh, twin talk! Geez, even just baby talk! When my son was younger and got together with his cousin (who was born 2 weeks after him), the two of them would just converse...I used to worry that they were planning a coup d'etat; perhaps trying to get out of eating more strained green beans or peas. lol. Fun times with children. Looking forward to doing it all over again with the 2nd one.

  5. I saw this video at msn in Spanish and I couldn't stop laughing. It is a wonderful theme to talk in any language class.
    I love it!!!

  7. Oh, I am so using this with my fifth graders! Now that we've got the OAA's out of the way, this is perfect to start lightening things up a bit!
