  1. Hey! I REALLY like this site! I looked at it and there are sooooo many things to find especially broken down in categories such as grade levels and subject. I saw a site called "Babbel." The URL is www.babbel.com. This was the little information given about this site on EduTechernet. It said, "Learn languages in a fun and intuitive way. Babbel uses the personal interest of the user to setup a course of study for them to learn a language. Choose from English, French, Italian, Spanish, and Dutch. A great tool for students studying a new language." In any case, since I am a K-8 Spanish teacher, I checked it out and in a lot of ways, it reminds me of Rosetta Stone. There are pictures and the words are pronounced and you have the opportunity to repeat the words on the microphone, etc. It's a pretty neat tool and before I knew it, I had already spent 20 minutes on it. The prices aren't bad either...it can range from like $12.95 a month to even less if you sign up for several months. I plan to look more into this!

  2. I loved this website and all the amazing resources it has to offer! I also appreciated that it has some great tools for younger elementary students. There are two that I would like to use in the near future. One is a tool called Voki, in which you can create an avatar that has voice accompaniment. The URL is www.voki.com. You get to choose the appearance of the avatar, and I think I would choose one of the animals, as kindergarteners would enjoy that. You can also customize the voice, as to one of several characters, with one of several accents as well. It will be a fun way to introduce new information to young children, or review important facts, or just for the students to interact with. The second tool is called ScuttlePad, which is like a very introductory version of Facebook for young children. This would be a great tool to inform parents about, because it gives their children an opportunity to communicate with friends, and learn how to post pictures and add text. I like that the text is actually from a choice of several 'sentence starters', so that those who are especially new to writing and spelling have support when they write. It also serves as a safeguard to promote online security in what information is sent online. I know that there are times when parents can't take their chidren to a friend's house, and this is one way they can still visit. Thanks for the information about edutecher - I could spend hours browsing it!

  3. EduTecher is a great and very useful website for teachers. The amount of content on the site seems endless, and the site is very user friendly in the fact that you can simply filter out the sites you are not interested in by selecting the exact topics and grade levels you want to search for. Another great aspect of this site is eduTecherTV. This is a very good way to not only learn about new and useful sites, but how to use them. Links to sites are great, but if you do not understand how to use them then they will not be very helpful to you as a teacher. These video clips go over websites and tools to use in your classroom and exactly how to use them in a step by step manner. This site can help anybody learn how to use technology in their classroom, even teachers who are not as proficient with technology.

  4. I played around with a few things on edutecher. polleverywhere.com and 280slides.com. I put the info about polleverywhere on Google docs. 280slides.com allows you to create a presentation similar to powerpoint and save it "in the cloud". You can then access it from anywhere. I was able to import my poll questions from polleverywhere into my 280slides presentation. Very Cool.

  5. This site doesn't seem to have a lot to offer in the way of high school math resources. Most of the resources it came up with were for making flashcards, which is really not that helpful for math, and the calculator.com site was disappointing. However, there are a few sites that look interesting that I still need to peruse, so we'll see...
